The East Africa Instructor Course will introduce you to NOLS' philosophy, curriculum, and systems to build on the technical outdoor and leadership skills you already have during a 21-day course that will include a 19-day wilderness expedition. During the course, you will have opportunities to fine-tune your teaching skills through an in-depth examination of the NOLS curriculum.

Tuition
There is NO TUITION COST to take the East Africa Instructor Course. An equipment deposit may be required to rent equipment.
Prerequisites
Permanent residence in East Africa. Intimate knowledge of East African culture and language (English and Swahili). Current Wilderness First Responder certification with at least 72 hours of instruction. Basic adult CPR certificate with 4 hours of instruction. Minimum age is 21 years.
There will be a 70-hour wilderness first responder course in Arusha after the Instructor Course offered by Sentinel Outdoor Institute (SOI). Please contact us if you are unable to attain a WFR before the course and plan to attend this training afterward.
