• Wilderness Navigation: Master navigation skills, including map and compass techniques, backcountry route planning, and risk management.

• Campcraft and Survival Skills: Develop the practical skills needed for camping, cooking, and surviving in the backcountry, while adhering to Leave No Trace principles.

Course Structure: What to Expect Each Day

Day 1: Arrive at the NOLS Patagonia campus for introductions, gear checks, and a course briefing. Meet your instructors and team members, and begin building your leadership foundation.

Days 2-30: Embark on the expedition, where each day is filled with immersive activities such as backcountry trekking, cultural exchanges with local communities, and hands-on training in outdoor skills. You’ll take turns leading different aspects of the journey, putting leadership skills into practice while navigating the diverse Patagonian landscape.

Day 31: Return to the NOLS Patagonia campus for a final debrief and graduation ceremony, where you’ll reflect on the lessons learned and the friendships made during the course.
